I love this plug in but I’m having an interesting (infuriating) problem.
I enter ~13 events without any problems, then things start to go wrong. I add in additional events and they show up in the admin panel/google map, but not the event list!
I’ve never had the old version of EME which is mostly the only explanation I can find for this problem. If you could help me I would be extremely grateful. My events list is here: http://theoceanproject.org/wordpress/?page_id=501 if you look at the event map here http://theoceanproject.org/wordpress/ you can see the phantom events that are there, but not on the event list (the Santa Monica event for example).
Help? Other info: the tech guy I work with had the EME database hooked up to our original event database somehow at one point. I’m not 100% on how all that works and I made him “unhook” the databases when the trouble started, but no luck. Is it possible he messed it up somehow?
Thanks.
EDIT: weird… so I just deactivated and reactivated the plugin (just for the hell of it) and then added a test event and it worked! It’s up at the top. Maybe this will help explain what’s wrong some how?
Tue 1 Mar 2011 at 21:22 #47053FrankyKeymasterWhat this means is that your tech guy probably indeed messed up. It’s impossible to assess from here what went on at your site on a DB level. If you can reproduce this problem with a clean setup, I’ll be happy to take a look at it.
Wed 2 Mar 2011 at 16:21 #47054adminKeymasterSo I deleted it all and re-installed, and began adding new events again. Same thing is happening.
I have a slightly better idea of the issues. The events list will only ever display 10 events. I have 13 events in the database. When I delete one of the 10 displayed events, a new one (previously hidden) shows up on the events list.
Any thoughts?
Wed 2 Mar 2011 at 17:47 #47055FrankyKeymasterThat’s not dissapearing. It’s the default: only 10 events are shown by default. If you want more: use the “limit” option for the “[events_list]” shortcode. See http://www.e-dynamics.be/wordpress/?cat=18
Wed 2 Mar 2011 at 18:25 #47056adminKeymasterWow, thanks, I feel kind of stupid now.
Is it possible to apply this limit to the default event listing page (that you set in the “settings”)?
I ask because my css makes it so that the tables don’t fit within the theme properly when I use the shortcode on a page, but it does work when viewed in the default event list page.
EDIT: nevermind, made it work. thanks for your help
Wed 2 Mar 2011 at 19:05 #47057adminKeymasterthough, is there any reason my big google map (with all the events) would work, but the individual place maps on the single event pages doesn’t? They worked fine an hour ago. I just have #_MAP in the Default single event format box.
Wed 2 Mar 2011 at 19:25 #47058FrankyKeymasterSeems to work fine here
Wed 2 Mar 2011 at 21:10 #47059adminKeymasterthat’s weird, this page: http://theoceanproject.org/wordpress/?page_id=507&event_id=8
shows a map on your machine? it’s blank here.
Wed 2 Mar 2011 at 21:23 #47060FrankyKeymasterNo, but this one does: http://theoceanproject.org/wordpress/?page_id=507&location_id=1
The page you refer to has the event description on it, but probably not #_MAP
If you want: sent me a mail with admin access so I can check it out (liedekef@telenet.be) but I believe you just need to play around with the placeholders.
Thu 3 Mar 2011 at 16:43 #47061adminKeymasterthe weird thing is, when I take out EVERYTHING except for “#_MAP” it still doesn’t show up. the single event page just becomes blank. never encountered this problem before?
Thu 3 Mar 2011 at 20:39 #47062FrankyKeymasterMy latest comment stands …
Fri 4 Mar 2011 at 19:07 #47063adminKeymasterI would give you that info but it’s not my site and the organization probably wouldn’t appreciate the security risk (no offense of course!). Nothing I do is fixing it so I guess we’ll just do without.
Another quick question, is there a way to display the map with event balloons, but without the list of locations under it?
Fri 4 Mar 2011 at 20:05 #47064FrankyKeymasterFor the moment the location list is added, but it’s on my to do list to split this up.
