Forgive me, I’m new to all this and I can’t seem to figure this out. In settings I can change the monthly and yearly date format, but is there a way to change the daily period date format? Basically I want to be able to append the full day name. I am using this short code to get
[events_list category=1 scope=this_month showperiod=daily]
April 3, 2011
08:00 AM – Event 1
09:00 AM – Event 2
10:00 AM – Event 3
But how do I get it to show:
Sunday April 3, 2011
08:00 AM – Event 1
09:00 AM – Event 2

I should also say that I did try to change it in the admin > settings > general. When i try to enter something like “l, F j, Y” in the custom box, and then click save, it changes it to “custom”.

I deactivated Events Manager, then I was able to successfully set the custom date format, and then reactivated Events Manager. The setting took so I answered my own question, but maybe this post should be moved to the bugs section.
I tried this here and could not reproduce this: I can change the date-format in the admin->settings->general without problems while EME is active. Are you sure Events Manager Extended is the cause here?
Right now its the only activated plugin, but it wasn’t from a fresh wordpress install. The site I’m working on is just in a sandbox right now. When I launch it, I’ll document exactly what I install and report back here. Thanks!

Howard, I suggest that you check with your web hosting service to find whether they are using the optional Apache web server mod_apc opcode caching module. That module caches compiled PHP opcodes in server memory to speed webpage creation. It can be configured either to check or not check for php code changes before each page is created. Web pages are created more quickly if it doesn’t check, but the effects of code changes are not seen until the cache is cleared from server memory. Furthermore, a bug in that module can cause the check for code changes to not be made even if it is configured to do so. There is a configuration workaround for that problem, but some server administrators may not know about it.
If you are not able to easily determine whether the php_apc module is being used, simply put the following line at the top of the .htaccess file in your server root directory:
php_flag apc.cache_by_default Off
That line will disable apc opcode caching for your entire website if the module is being used and it will have no effect otherwise.
