My website seems to be spitting out all the events in a list with no dates, then after that spits out the calendar. I check to make sure the option of having the list was turned off, and it was.

If some one has experienced this and know what is going on I would appreciate the help. The link is: http://www.ilmnightlife.com/events/

Somehow your server thinks the year is “0”, month “0” and day “0”.

Is your server time set ok?

Maybe running in a VM? I’ve seen some weird time issues with VMs.

I don’t see where it doesn’t have a date. When I look at it, the calendar has April 2012 at the top. The problem is that a list of events are all above it, and then the calendar shows. If you do click on the next month though to May 2012, it all goes away.

When I go to your site, the year is marked “0” …

Even then: you should NOT use the events page directly, as marked in the doc and in the settings page.

You should create your own page and use the available EME shortcodes there. See here for e.g. a list of events:

    http://www.e-dynamics.be/wordpress/?cat=18

For your problem with the calendar showing together with the listing on the special event page: I can’t tell, I need to see it for myself, but it doesn’t work here. I’ll try the setting myself later on (might be a bug)

I still don’t see what your seeing. What I see is a list of the events, and then the calendar marked April 2012. And yes, if you see my first post I am not using the “lists” feature in the settings as it is stated in the docs to not too. It is automatically putting that list there and my settings say it is turned off. That is the problem I just want the calendar layout on there and all the sudden it started to put a list on there too.

Well, I still need to check it, but read my post again:

you should NOT use the events page directly, as marked in the doc and in the settings page.

You should create your own page and use (one or more of) the available EME shortcodes there.

That’s the advised way of using it.

I was seeing the year “0” problem on your site yesterday, but today the behavior is as you describe, event listing and then calendar.

    You need to

    a. create a blank WordPress page called something like “Calendar”.

    b. do as Franky describes and insert appropriate EME short codes on that page.

Here is what’s on mine, with full calendar and event listings:

    [events_calendar full=1]
    Upcoming Events[events_list paging=1 limit=10 scope=month]

    Previous Events[events_list paging=1 limit=10 scope=past]

    c. Create links to that page on your site or menu.

    d. Stop trying to use the yoursite/events URL.

    e. You might also want to go EME settings and change “Display calendar in events page?” to NO.

    Good luck.

Ya that Events page is not created through the EME settings. I already have EME settings set to Display Calender in Events Page to No. I created a page called Events, and pasted [events_calendar full=1]. And what on there is what you are seeing.

Re-did everything as said just to make sure it wasn’t with a page called “Events” and I am still getting the problem.

Read the following concerning the EME setting “Events page”:

The content of this page (including shortcodes of any kind) will be ignored completely and dynamically replaced by events data

Meaning: the setting should point to a real page, that is not to be used inside your menus. I’m guessing you don’t have such a page or so? Just create an empty page and point the EME setting “Events page” to that page. Then create other pages and put any shortcode on them.

I just went to check the site (it’s down) and noticed it uses CloudFlare, which is not caching the events page. I don’t know if that changes anything, but I thought it might be worth mentioning.

wahha, what Franky’s trying to make clear is that we are talking about TWO different WordPress “pages”.

    1. The “Events” page used by EME, which is always OVERWRITTEN COMPLETELY by whatever the EME single event settings are. That WordPress page should be blank. (However, with my theme this did not exactly work that way at first.)

    2. An OPTIONAL “calendar of events” page you can create at your discretion, intended to display an events list and/or a calendar and/or other content. You can insert all the EME shortcodes on this page to customize how you want your calendar page to appear (e.g., as with my code above).

You would NOT point any of your web site to that page #1 — it exists ONLY to format events when they are viewed individually (as when called from a calendar click or event listing click).

    Does that help?

    Ya,

I already did all that. The “Events” page is used by EME, but then I created the page called “Calendar” and I posted the link above and used shortcodes and it still spits out the same stuff. I may try to get rid of cloudflare. I am unsure why it wouldn’t work with Cloudflare though since it is not minifying anything.

I’m getting the “December 0” behavior again; that at least might be due to CloudFlare…

Definitely try it with that off and please let us know; CloudFlare’s quite popular and it would be good to know if it’s incompatible with this plugin…

I turned off cloudFlare, and I also turned off Super Cache. It is still doing it, but I figured I would check back in a day to see if it propagates. Those are the only two things I can think that may of messed it up as I didn’t change anything besides those two things and this started happening. Had this program for over year and hasn’t acted up yet till now.

You seem to have 2 pages:

    http://www.ilmnightlife.com/calendar/

    http://www.ilmnightlife.com/events/

What is the value of the EME setting called “Events page”?

Also: check the shortcodes on those 2 pages.

What do you mean what is the value of EME setting?

The shortcode I am using is: [events_calendar full=1].

I have two pages to show people that it is the same no matter what I name the page cause earlier people were stating that it wasn’t working cause the name of my page was called “events” So made another one called “calendar” to show them it has nothing to do with the name.

Franky is asking you, simply, the value in the EME settings page that I referred to earlier:

    1. The “Events” page used by EME, which is always OVERWRITTEN COMPLETELY by whatever the EME single event settings are. That WordPress page should be blank. (However, with my theme this did not exactly work that way at first.)

Go to Dashboard, Events, Settings, and tell Franky what page on your site you have listed in the “Events page” setting pulldown.

I don’t have any listed there now because when I originally spoke on the forum about my problem, they told me to not use it. That it causes the error. And I did that and it didn’t matter.

When you say you “don’t have any listed there now”, do you mean that it just says “Please select a page” in the pulldown box?

It needs to be set to a page on your site, ANY page. The contents of that page (if any; mine’s blank) will be dynamically overwritten with whatever code and data you have set for “Default single event format” further down on the Settings page. This will happen whenever an individual event is viewed. As far as I know this is essential to using the plugin.

This is ALL a SEPARATE process from the optional calendar/calendar-of-events page you might create. I tried to describe these two distinctions in my earlier post above.

(For the record, I’m just a new user like you; Franky’s the developer.)

@beventsmadeeasy: you might be a new user, but you explained it just fine 🙂

I’m not a new user. I have had this for a few years and it just randomly started doing this. I had it set on a page called “Events” then at the beginning of this forum they told me to not use that option. So I didn’t. That did not change anything. So, I went back and just put the selection of the page to my page called “Events.” It still doesn’t make a difference. I also have a page called calendar that I am using the shortcode on and it looks exactly as the page called events.

My client though is now at the point of frustration that I am either deleting this plugin and all the events they uploaded and trying to reinstall and see if that fixes it, or going to a new plugin. I have no clue why it just randomly stopped working. We have been using this plugin for almost two years and it worked fine and then boom, it just started randomly doing this.

Well, let’s try a different approach: can you send me a admin account? So I can check it out for myself? My email: liedekef@telenet.be
