I’ve searched all of the threads pertaining to Excerpts in this forum and they all seem to apply to an older version of EME.
I am unable to get the ‘#_EXCERPTS’ code to work. When I had this code to my “Default event list format”, the entire detail displays in the list. When #_EXCERPTS is not added to the Event list format, a very short list displays on the events page, but how do a program the number of characters or words that are displayed by the excerpt and how do I get the “read more” to display. The following line does NOT provide any useful instructions:
Use ‘#_EXCERPT’ to show ‘#_NOTES’ until you place a ‘<!––more––>’ marker.
Where do I use this code and how do I use it? Do I have to insert it in the “Default event list format”? Then what? Do I have to include commas or something else between these pieces of code? Do I have to modify php files?
I am NOT new to WP Excerpt Plugins, but instructions are helpful.
Fri 7 Sep 2012 at 07:42 #49895FrankyKeymasterThe excerpt (as shown by using #_EXCERPT) only shows the part of the whole event info (as shown by #_NOTES) until (up to where) the text “<!––more––>” is encountered in the event info.
This “code” can be entered in any of the format settings for events (in EME settings page), but is indeed used typically in the “Default event list format”

I just haven’t figured out how to get this to work. I’ve tried using the EME plugin in two different WP themes. I’m using the most recent version of EME – 1.0.2 in WP theme Twentyten, referenced below. Can you please explain exactly how I am supposed to use the excerpt code in the default event list format:
‘
- #j #M #Y – #H:#i
#_LINKEDNAME
#_TOWN#_EXCERPT
‘
I’ve tried using every iteration of #_EXCERPT and #_NOTES that I can think of and I can’t get an excerpt that ends at the ‘<!–More–> in my event listing.
Here is the link to the list page on a testing website:

Thanks for your patience.
Sat 8 Sep 2012 at 15:01 #49897FrankyKeymasterI checked that link and I saw this in the html source:
<strong>This is where the MORE tag was added in HTML view.</strong></p>
but I nowhere saw the
<!--more-->
tag. So somehow this tag has been removed on your side, maybe another plugin is doing this? Can you mail me an admin account for me to check things out on your side? My mail: liedekef [at] telenet.be

Sorry, sent it to support email before reading your entire message.
Thanks for your help.
Sat 8 Sep 2012 at 16:10 #49899FrankyKeymasterEt voila, fixed. In visual mode you can click on the “Insert More tag”
button to enter the more-tag. In html mode you can click on the “more”
button to insert the tag.
Works fine, see the result.

I was making this more difficult than it needed to be.
For anyone following this thread. You don’t code the “More” tag, use the awesome WYSIWYG panel in the “Details” section of the dashboard. In Visual mode, the “Insert More” button is between the “Broken Link” button and the “ABC Spell Check” button. In HTML mode, the button is quite obvious.
I appreciate how very quickly I received help with this powerful plugin!
