When I update from 1.5.41 to 1.5.43, have a successful install and then go to any page in the backend of my site, it’s a white screen.
I am using WordPress 4.3 and have the following plugins activated:
Formidable Pro (forms)
Formidable PayPal
Formidable Math Captcha
Business Directory Plugin
Better Delete Revision
Captcha by BestWebSoft
Yoast SEO
Meteor Slides
Weaver II Theme ExtrasMy theme is Weaver II Pro
I see others are having issues with the white screen. I restored my website & db to the state prior to updating your plugin and things are working except for Formidable, which is throwing a function
WP_List_Table::get_columns() must be over-ridden in a sub-class
error (I don’t think that would impact your plugin, would it?).Thanks for any help.
~Barb PetersonWed 9 Sep 2015 at 20:33 #54814FrankyKeymasterwhich php version are you using? You need at least 5.4 (remember: 5.2 is out of support for several years already, but unfortunately still used by many providers)
Wed 9 Sep 2015 at 23:44 #54824AnonymousInactiveI checked with Bluehost and also saw for myself that both the websites I am having this problem with are using php5.4.24 or above…
I am not a programmer. How to go about figuring out what is causing the conflict?
As a side note, I got the Formidable Forms plugin all squared away, so that couldn’t be the one causing the problems…
I also tried updating to your 1.5.44 version and still get the white screen — on both front and backend…
Thanks for any help!
Thu 10 Sep 2015 at 06:40 #54831FrankyKeymasterA white screen (in fact nothing shows) means there is a php error. Look in the error logfiles of your server for the error.
But I still believe it us due to the php version used. Create a small php script in your wp dir and call phpversion() in it to check.Thu 10 Sep 2015 at 15:41 #54840AnonymousInactiveThank you for the help, Franky.
The following error seems to be the culprit:
[09-Sep-2015 16:50:46] PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STATIC, expecting T_STRING or T_VARIABLE or '$' in /home5/paolibus/public_html/wp-content/plugins/events-made-easy/ExpressiveDate.php on line 68
I also checked cPanel Stats again and the server for my website is using a php version of 5.4.43
Does this help pinpoint the issue?
Thanks again for the help!
Thu 10 Sep 2015 at 22:41 #54844FrankyKeymasterSee this thread :
https://wordpress.org/support/topic/site-broked-after-update?replies=6You can see that it should work just fine with php 5.4
But I’ll release a new version today that also checks the php version.Fri 11 Sep 2015 at 02:08 #54847AnonymousInactiveThank you, Franky.
Your latest update did the trick. It did not notify me on one of my sites that I had an out-of-date version of php after the update. This is the same site that yesterday I tried updating your plugin to 1.5.44 and it gave me the white screen of death. So whatever code magic you did for 1.5.45, it allowed the update to take place. Many thanks. You deserve a donation for the quick time you responded to the issues and repaired them. I will do that tomorrow.
Again, many thanks!
