Adding Placeholders in Send Email

I have tried adding placeholders in send email, but it doesn’t seem to work..can you excplain how to add the placeholders…I am particuarly interested in the new updated placehold for PAYENTS reminder. The below, is what came back as the email…

Dear #_RESPNAME

#_SPACES place/s is/are now confirmed on our Stage Choir for April 21st 2013.

We note payment has not yet been received.

Payment of #_TOTALPRICE is now due

You can pay using #_PAYMENT_URL

Make sure you use “booking mails” as mail type if you want to use those placeholders.
