    Hello Franky,

Thanks for your years of dedication to EME!

I have an intermittent problem with the display of events in a calendar. Occasionally, any of several different calendars will display with the month and year name of “December 0000” and all days will be empty of events. The date numbers appear correctly. I do not know if this is a bug in EME or something going on with the server.

The behavior appears on this page: http://www.ncwsa.org/events-calendar/ (production site) and also on these pages: “../service-calendar/“, “../combined-calendar/“. Contact me for test site URL.

Have you heard of this behavior before, and if so, do you have any suggestions as to what might be causing it, or how I might troubleshoot it?

The behavior seems to occur more frequently and consistently when using Google Chrome, but the behavior will show up now and then in Safari and Firefox. I do not know about Opera or IE. I was able to get Chrome to repeat the behavior several times after a user reported the problem until I activated the plug-in “Debug This”. Even after deactivating “Debug This”, I could not then cause the behavior to repeat.

I have only seen the behavior on the production site, not the test site.

Refreshing the page usually causes the behavior to stop, but not always.

The behavior is not usually repeatable. This suggests a “race condition” (e.g. a timing problem) in server processing.

I do not know if another plug-in is in conflict with EME, as I cannot run the production site for extended times with the other plug-ins deactivated, and the test site does not show the behavior. Sometimes weeks go by without seeing the behavior. However, the behavior has persisted through various versions of EME and most, if not all, other plug-ins, themes and server environments, including during the transition when WordPress went to enqueueing scripts and styles.

I have slightly modified a few EME php files to add categories, so that different categories of events have different colors on the various “Calendar” pages and the “Events List” page. This also allows the different “flavors” of calendars (e.g. Event Calendar, Service Calendar, Combined Calendar) and it also allows users to filter the event list. These modifications have been made to previous versions of EME. They were made before you introduced your version of adding colors to events. Let me know if you wish to see these modifications.

I have not modified any EME javascript or jquery files.

I have added some javascript files for other functions, using proper WordPress enqueueing.

Contact me for a PDF file of environmental information (versions numbers, etc.) and I’ll e-mail it to you.

    Thank you!

I think it might be related to the option to check the client clock. This happens via an ajax call, but it might have a problem (maybe in relation to your modifs).
I also urge you to update to enjoy all new features 🙂

No response (and it seems to be ok for me), so closing with the AJAX answer as correct solution.

Thanks Franky. It seems to be OK. No one has complained about it in the past few days. Since this is an intermittent problem, I probably won’t know for sure until a few months have passed.

    Thanks again!
