Events not found unless user is logged in

Hi,

Events on my site do not load when viewed by an anonymous viewer, instead the ‘Page not found’ page is displayed.

I am using URL re-writing, so I turned that off to test it, and it is still broken.

For example the link on the page is:

http://joylivinglearning.org/events?event_id=178

but when clicked, this URL shows up in the location bar:

http://joylivinglearning.org/blog/jestew/events?event_id=178

so somehow, ‘/blog/jestew’ is getting inserted… This happens with or without URL re-writing. I don’t know how long this has been happening, and I’m skeptical that it’s an EME error, but I don’t know how to debug it, but it’s extremely serious, since no one can view our event details. So any help is gratefully accepted!

OK. More information.

I turned off permalinks (which broke a whole bunch of the site…) and now the event links look like this:

http://joylivinglearning.org/?page_id=179&calendar_day=2010-11-30

and if I’m logged in those links work, and if I’m not logged in, the URL is the same, but I get the ‘Page not found’ page. So perhaps it IS an EME problem.

Any ideas?

Check the WordPress settings “WordPress address (URL)” and “Site address (URL)”

Also, judging by the generated URL’s, you still have permalinks activated.

But also: check the EME setting “Events page” and see that it points to an existing (non protected) page.

Yes! You’re the man… Somehow… The events page became ‘Scheduled’ for the end of Nov. I have NO idea how that happened. Once I scheduled it for the end of Oct, it was no publicly visible, and all works again.
