Hi,
Further to my previous post (http://www.e-dynamics.be/wordpress/?topic=interogating-events), I looking for workarounds to enable users to search through various aspects of my events calendar is the absence of tag clouds, searchable attributes etc.
I’ve come up with a way that I can batch types of events together under “conactperson_id” leaving categories free for other options. Then I can use the different shortcodes to produce what I am looking for on different pages.
This is all working fine and dandy with events created in thru the admin, but I am trying to find a way for the appropriate “contactperson” to be added when people use the front end form.
I’ve maanged to change the contact email to contactperson_ID, but this requires the correct number which will be confusing for people to put in correctly. As far as I can tell there is no way of setting this field to the username, so ID seems to be the best option.
Franky, I appreciate you can’t provide specific advice/support to people messing with the code to suit their own needs, but I just wanted to ascertain if what I am looking to do is even acheiveable. If so I’ll keep trying, if not I’ll head back to to drawing board and look for another solution!!
I would like a dropdown list (similar to Select the Event Category), where the options would be text that users could understand which would then link to the relevant contactperson_Id in the event creation.
Eg.
“Music”, would populate event with id=1 which would match username “music”
“Comedy”, would populate event with id=2 which would match username “comedy”
and so onThen I can create pages with [eme_events contact_person=Music] etc for types of events (as an alternative to the huge number categories I’m using for other things).
If I replicate the code for the categories dropdown box but looking at conactperson_id instead should it be possible to create a similar dropdown for the various contactperson names or would there be far more complete work required to make this happen?.
Many thanks,
