I have some customers that would like to add all the events to there google calendar. I understand that the google canlendar does not update imediatly.
I have added the following to a page:
<a href="http://www.google.com/url?sa=D&q=http://www.google.com/calendar/render%3Fcid%3D[events_ical_link justurl=true]" target=_blank>Google Calendar</a>
but when they click on the link and accept it into there calendar it shows (No Title) and the information from the event is not there.
I am also trying to figure out the timezone issue.
Anybody have any suggestions
Wed 20 Mar 2013 at 23:29 #50305FrankyKeymasterThis is explained in the faq “How to add a “Add to Google Calendar” link to an event”. See
Fri 22 Mar 2013 at 20:50 #50306AnonymousInactiveAm I missing something, I don’t see away to add the entire calendar into a google calendar.
I think the example I gave was pushing the Ical to google. I would like to do that so that google calendar would subscribe to my events calendar. This way my calendar that I use all the time would always show the events and I would not have to go to the events calendar.
Fri 22 Mar 2013 at 22:38 #50307AnonymousInactiveI think I may have found a solution but when I import it there is no event name. How do I control what is in the Ical file?
Fri 22 Mar 2013 at 22:39 #50308AnonymousInactiveand is there a way to grab past events in the Ical file?
Sat 23 Mar 2013 at 13:10 #50309FrankyKeymasterI don’t see any practical use in past events in the ICAL file, but anyway, this will be in the next version:
shortcode [events_ical_link] now has 3 extra options: scope, author and contact_person
You can’t change anything generated for an ICAL file (it is a strict format after all), except for the way the title and event description is shown, by using the settings “Single event page title format” and “Default single event format”.
Mon 25 Mar 2013 at 17:32 #50310AnonymousInactiveFranky already helped me out with this and I posted my solution at http://www.e-dynamics.be/bbpress/topic.php?id=1865
Personally I have no problem leaving it that way.
(I should add that I’m still on an old release.)
Mon 25 Mar 2013 at 20:14 #50311AnonymousInactiveThank you,
I just need to figure out how to get the timezone figured out. It appears to be sending it or google is receiving it without the current timezone, I am at -7 so everything in the google calendar is off by 7 hours.
Mon 25 Mar 2013 at 22:19 #50312FrankyKeymaster@beventsmadeeasy: those code changes shouldn’t be needed any more 🙂
@Paul: I removed the timezone from the ICAL in the past, but I shouldn’t have … added here:
Wed 20 Nov 2013 at 05:11 #50313AnonymousInactivePaul – did you manage to get this working?
I’m trying to sync all events to Google Calendar and if possible, all events from an individual category.
Thanks in advance,
Tom
Wed 20 Nov 2013 at 05:53 #50314AnonymousInactiveI’m using [events_ical_link] on my page, which gives me the following URL: http://plainandsimple.tv/?eme_ical=public&scope=future
When I first tried to import this to a new Google Calendar it threw an error which I have forgotten now, but it’s not happening on further attempts.
I tried downloading the ICS file generated by EME using the link which appears to be correct gives a series of events formatted like this:

The issue is that no events are appearing in my google calendar.
Does it take time to crawl and add?
Wed 20 Nov 2013 at 09:03 #50315FrankyKeymasterGoogle for “google calendar ical feed not updating” gives you:
Wed 20 Nov 2013 at 09:12 #50316AnonymousInactiveThanks – so I guess that means just wait a day or so and see what happens?
Wed 20 Nov 2013 at 12:29 #50317FrankyKeymasterProbably 🙂
Wed 20 Nov 2013 at 13:33 #50318AnonymousInactiveI found that this wasn’t working in Lotus Notes other (tested it on my work machine).
Tried a validator and there’s an empty single line which could be causing the problem?
Sorry, your calendar could not be parsed.
Error: Error was: Error at line 1: Expected [-3], read [10]
Cause:
Any idea?
Wed 20 Nov 2013 at 20:33 #50319FrankyKeymasterHmmm … that’s not good …. let me check this out
Wed 20 Nov 2013 at 20:35 #50320FrankyKeymasterWell, I tried with a calendar here and it works just fine:
Could it be your theme adding a line?
Edit: yes, it seems so: it seems that your theme starts with an empty line, the sourcecode of the homepage at http://plainandsimple.tv/ proves it. A bit weird that the theme is still used basically …
Thu 21 Nov 2013 at 01:29 #50321AnonymousInactiveYup! It was an extra line after the ?> tag in a plugin!
Sorry I didn’t spot it
