Events Made Easy › Forums › Generic › Having a problem with Google Maps after updating EME plugin
Tagged: maps
Hi Franky.
I’ve been using the EME plugin for a few years to run an events based website. I just updated to the latest EME Version 1.6.24
Since doing so, the Google Maps location for new events keeps displaying a blank area in the sea. I’ll input the longitude and lattitude and update, but when I return they will be set to 0,0 again.
All events added prior to the plugin update are displaying correctly, it’s just when I add a new entry. Would you have any ideas as to what might cause this?
Thanks
Jamie
To be sure: you are not using the address info, but directly the lat/long coordinates?
Btw: even if enter the coordinates, you must enter something for the address info (even if the naming is meaningless), otherwise the map won’t work.It has been like that for quite some versions you know …
Hi Franky
Thanks for the response. Yes, I do fill in the address (and use the country after the city when needed) but the same issue occurs.
I have discovered a javascript error in my browser console: Google Maps API warning: NoApiKeys https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/error-messages#no-api-keys
So I’m going to try setup an API key. I’m just uncertain as to why it allows previous events to display correctly.

Hi
Just to follow up on this. I’ve setup a Google API Key and allowed the URL referral. This all works fine, and the error is no longer in the Java console.
However, the same issue occurs. Any new event I add, regardless of entering the address info, or entering the coordinates, displays at 0,0 which is spot in the middle of the sea on the Equator.
All events in which the location was added previously before the update of the EME plugin display correctly.
Could I have a temp admin account to test this?
Hi Franky
I had created a temp admin account for you and emailed it to you. In the meantime, I’ve managed to fix the issue, by going to each event and removing each town name, and re-adding it with the co-ordinates. It seemed a bit temperamental, but after doing this a few times on each event, it seemed to work.
