Events Made Easy › Forums › Generic › How to edit recurring events
Tagged: recurrence
When editing an existing recurring event, how do I get that event’s admin screen to retain the recurring data (e.g. “Frequency”)? I currently have to re-enter all recurrence data.
Here’s what happens.
Go to Events > Edit
A list of all events is shown on this admin page.
Click “Reschedule” in the right-most column for an event.
* Choose an event occurring the 3rd Saturday of every month.
Any recurring event will do.
* The admin screen for that recurring event is shown (with the message “WARNING: This is a recurrence.”)
In the “Recurrence” area
* The recurrence tick-box is checked
* The “Frequency” is “Daily”
* The text box is blank between “Every” and “day”
* There are no other fields in which to enter data
I have to go back and put in the recurrence data:
* Change the “Frequency” to “Monthly”
* Enter “1” in the text box between “Every” and “month”
* Change “Every” to “third” and “Sat” for the “Day of the month”
Click the “Update” button.
How do I edit a recurring event without having to re-enter the data?
Sorry, but I can’t reproduce this. The recurrence info is correctly retained when I click the reschedule link.
Which EME version and which wp version are you using?
And if both are up-to-date, can I have a demo of this behavior?
I found the problem. Sorry to take your time.
Apparently, after installing a new version of EME, the database got corrupted. The “xxxx_eme_events” table still had four columns for recurrence data (all the values were ‘NULL’) and there was no data in the “xxxx_eme_recurrence” table. This must have occurred during the transition from the old “Events Manager Extended” to “Events Made Easy” (at least a year ago?), or I wasn’t paying attention when massaging the database several months ago and got confused between which table structure applied to which program.
Thanks again for your rapid response and extraordinary support.
