Events Made Easy › Forums › How do I … › How to format templates
OK. Newbie here. This events plugin is a bit overwhelming for me.
Trying to format a template for single Events. Initial attempt looks like this:
=======================
Begin: #_STARTDATE #_STARTTIME
End: #_ENDDATE, #_ENDTIME
Where:
#_ADDRESS
#_TOWN
#_EVENTDETAILS
===================================================
But the output on the Event page looks like this with everything running together.
=====================================================
Begin: January 25, 2018 8:00 pm End: January 25, 2018, 10:00 pm Where: Newcastle Road Galway
This is a description of a sample event.
It can include text, images, etc.
==============================================
I tried adding HTML breaks ( <BR> ) but they just show up as additional text and do not break the lines. Is there a way to control the format as well as the content?
While there is a lot of reference material on this site for placeholders, etc, I can’t find any help in the form of a tutorial or orientation that would help me understand how to even begin, let alone make use of the many features in this plugin. Can you point me to some help?
When using templates, you have to blame wordpress for removing the br-tags when switching from visual to text input.
In your case, I guess you added the br-tags in the visual tab, so they are just text then. Add these to the text-tab. Also, there exist plugins that let you keep the br-tag when switching between the 2 (tinymce-advanced has the option “Keep paragraph tags”).
In the past I didn’t even activate the visual editor in the templates, just for this reason. Now I have 🙂
I’ll release a new version that better takes into account the wordpress quirks (today or this weekend).
