Events Made Easy › Forums › How do I … › How to reinstall EME plugin without losing existing data
I was part of a multisite and a contractor split my site into a separate directory. After a WP update, the EME plugin disappeared. I tried to reinstall it but it recognized that the database exists and I would lose my events if I reinstalled. I don’t know what to do. I do not want to start over. Any suggestions? Can I get to the data and copy it then reinstall and copy over those saved files?
What is this “it recognized that the database exists and I would lose my events if I reinstalled”? EME doesn’t recognize that the database exists (well, it does, but it will not tell you and silently use what is there) and you never loose the data you have.
This time I did not get a text message. Just now, I tried to install EME and it failed. It said installation failed. Destination folder already exists. So to me that says it won’t install now, but previously I assumed it would overwrite what is there. Now I see that it won’t install at all. The plug in is no longer listed in my plugins area so I cannot activate or inactivate it. Sorry if I’m not using the right terminology.
That message comes from wp itself. Just remove the existing folder in your plugin folder.
I backed up the folder and then deleted it. I was then able to reinstall and activate the plug in. All is well now. Thanks for the help.
