This is a nontrivial change, but it’s one that I think might help me out greatly, and I suspect it will help out others as well.
I would like there to be multiple options for signup at a given event. This works like so:
Say I am a day-long convention for the first Saturday of the month. In addition to (or possible instead of) registering overall attendance, I want people to register in a session for the morning, and that means choosing from 5 options. Each of these options is capped at 20 participants.
At the moment, you can accomplish this by adding 5 separate events. The problem with this option is that it clogs up the calendar and “Next five events” widget to the point where the former becomes bloated and the latter becomes useless until after the convention.
The other option is to post a single event and have people write down their choices in the comment field – but this means that I have to do a lot of planning and shuffling after the fact to put people in their choices, and registrants don’t know when their first choice is filled up.
What I’d like to see is the option to define multiple “Categories” on creating an event, so that the signup sheet has multiple “reserve spaces” drop-down lists, one per category.
