Events Made Easy › Forums › Generic › Placeholder in Send Mails -> Generic emails not working
For the first time I used this feature.
I deactivated Sent to all EME people as I just want to send an email to one person: Send to a number of people.
I used #_UNSUBURL that it’s listed on the mentioned people placeholder page and #_PAYMENT_URL from the also mentioned member placeholder page. As I recap right now to write this mail I noticed that on top of the send mail page the placeholder is written #_UNSUB_URL. Are they both supposed to work?
I started with sending a preview mail that contained only the placeholders but not the links behind. With the thought that this test recipient isn’t registered and might not have these two URLs I send the mail to a person with missing payment for an event that it is registered for. But I got the same result: only two placeholders and no corresponding link.
Generic mails don’t have a booking-notion (pretty logical, since you don’t even define a related event). It is mentioned below which placeholders can be used.
Also it is #_UNSUB_URL, I’ll correct the doc.
As you mention it, it seems pretty logical, right. But as I was just discovering that feature I relied on the explanation given there. And yes it is written under the editor:
You can use any placeholders mentioned here:
People placeholders (for People or groups)
Member placeholders (for members)
You can also use any shortcode you want.
And the member link leads to https://www.e-dynamics.be/wordpress/category/documentation/7-placeholders/7-14-members/ where #_PAYMENT_URL is listed.
The #_PAYMENT_URL placeholder will work, but only if you select members (not people) to send it to 🙂 That’s why it says ‘Member placeholders (for members)”, meaning you can use member placeholders if you send the mail to specific members. Maybe not entirely clear, I admit, but I don’t think many people use it since I got no complaints so far 😀
True, again, with enough thinking you can figure it out. Thanks for clarification.
