I ran the plugin update earlier today and there was an error during the process. Now EME is gone from WordPress and my events too. I attempted to reinstall the plugin and it failed. HELP!
This is the message I’m getting when I try to reinstall.
Installing Plugin: Events Made Easy 1.5.49
Downloading install package from https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/events-made-easy.1.5.49.zip…
Unpacking the package…
Installing the plugin…
Destination folder already exists. /home/content/69/11617569/html/wp-content/plugins/events-made-easy/
Plugin install failed.
Return to Plugin Installer
This means that probably the plugin folder events-made-easy didn’t have the correct rights (ownership ) so wordpress failed to remove it (typically happens when you change things manually ). Just delete the folder manually and reinstall eme.
Where is the folder located? Will I lose all of my events and registrations that have already been made?
Location is what you already know: html/wp-content/plugins/events-made-easy/
And probably all events are still in the database
Unfortunately I do not have FTP to make changes to the folders. Nor do I have a PHP Admin to reinstall from my last backup. I’m not as tech savvy as most web hosts. Just a plain Jane trying to keep my own small business website running. Is there a simple solution for this?
Ok, I was able to get a hold of a friend who has a better grasp of web editing than I do. She directed me to the folder manager on GoDaddy. I surely would not have figured that out on my own. Aren’t friends wonderful? Thank you for the advice on editing the folder. She also uses EME so was well aware of how to fix it once we had your direction.
🙂
