Events Made Easy › Forums › How do I … › using Attributes
Hi,
I’m struggling to find out how attributes are used. Is there a tutorial other than the documentation that would explain how to use these? I simply tried to add a placeholder like #_ATT{MYFIELD} (described here http://www.e-dynamics.be/wordpress/?cat=29) somewhere in the event but it seems that I did it wrong!
In the docs it says: “Settings Page: for custom attributes” I can’t find a dedicated tab or page for attributes!? Is this right?
Many thanks
Cheers
JK
Just use those placeholders in your EME settings somewhere (that’s what the “from the settings page” means), and you’ll be able to use them when editing/creating events.
Hi Franky,
well I used #_ATT{MYFIELD} for example within the Event itself and it was not recognizing the attributes, now after going to the general settings -> mail and adding #_ATT{MYFIELD} to one of the fields the attributes are showing up.
I expected to be able to add attributes directly at the Event?
Cheers
JK
No, not in the event itself: would be rather weird having attributes defined for a single event … they are there to help you create some custom info field you want to share in all your events, but are nothing more than that.
Ah now I’m going to understand the reason for attributes.
I could define an attribute like Parking: and use this on any event and specify the value for “Parking” on each event itself like “not available”, “private parking”, “free at location” etc.?
Yep 🙂
